City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) Tourism Coordinator Jomark Lanciano said on Wednesday, August 3, that the village that will showcase the culture and tradition of the 11 tribes is almost done.
Lanciano, in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio, said that the houses of five of the Indigenous People tribes are now at 98 percent completion. That of the Moro tribes is at 98 percent while three others have been fully completed in terms of construction and decoration.
“Ang atoang Indigenous People’s (IP) tribe; Bagobo Klata, Ata, Matigsalug, Ovu Manuvu, Bagobo Tagabawa nahuman na ang ilahang balay, nag-decorate nalang sila sa sulod, naa na sa 98 percent overall sa sila. Ang sa mga Moro tribe nato, ang Sama tribe nahuman na ang ilahang balay naka-decorate napud sila 100 percent na gyud, same pud sa Maranao ug sa Kagan, 100 percent sila nahuman napud. Sa Iranun, Maguindanao, and Tausug naa na sila sa 98 percent na pud kay nag-decoration naman sila. Lanciano said that each tribal house was allocated a fund of Php 250,000.
He added that the tribes, along with their houses will showcase their culture, food, dances, and weaving to let the public learn more about their ways.
“Pwede mo makasulod, makapapicture og makapalit pud mo sa ilahang mga products (You may enter the houses, take photos and you may also buy their products),” Lanciano said.
A guide will be designated in each tribal house, who will explain the culture and tradition of the tribe to the visitors.
The Kadayawan Village will be opened on Friday, at 4 p.m. The opening will mark the start of the 37th Kadayawan sa Dabaw festivities.
“Ang opening nato ipakita nato ang kultura sa tribo pinaagi sa mga sayaw ilahang imbitahon sa bisita muadto sa ilang mga balay. Iistorya nila ang unsa unsa ang story sa ilahang tribo. Makakat-on gyud labi na kabatan-onan, kung asa sila gikan kung asa ang kaigsuunan nato sa tribo (During the opening, we will show the culture of the tribes through their dances and they will invite guests to visit their houses. They will also tell the story of the tribes),” he said.
Lanciano said that the visitors will surely deepen their knowledge of the eleven tribes through the showcase. CIO
