Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has credited City Hall officials for working hard to make city government operations better and bring honor to the city.

The mayor said this after the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) awarded Davao City as the 3rd Highly Urbanized Cities Overall Competitiveness in the 7th edition of the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

CMCI is DTI’s program which serves as a driving force for local government units to do better, to be more innovative, and to utilize and manage resources more effectively.

Mayor Sara said that if it is not for the initiatives of her department heads the city government will not improve and excel in its operation and services.

“I thank all the department heads because it is their passion for change that made the city government of Davao a winner and ultimately gives honor to Davao City,” she said.

Sara said it is always the goal of the department heads want to introduce changes in their respective operations for client satisfaction.

The mayor also thanked the people of Davao for their support to the programs of the city government.

“I also thank the Dabawenyos for their continuous support to the city government and our programs and projects,” she said.

LGUs competitiveness are measured based on the economic activity and productivity; the reliability and quality of government support for effective and sustainable expansion, and absence of corruption; the availability of necessary physical building blocks that connect and sustain a locality and its surroundings to enable provision of goods and services; and, the capability of an LGU to sustain competitiveness.

This year, Quezon City is the overall winner followed by Manila City in second and Davao City in third. CIO
