The city government of Davao will implement temporary road closures for the staging of the three category events of the Alveo Ironman 70.3 on March 22, 23 and 24.

The road closures will pave the way for the IRONGIRLS on March 22; the IRONKIDS on March 23, and the main event – Alveo Ironman 70.3 on March 24, all sponsored by the city government and sanctioned by the World Triathlon Corporation.

Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said, “The said events are part of the sports development and tourism promotions of Davao City.”

The mayor said the Ironman 70.3 will not only highlight the world’s athletes but also showcase the scenic sights, hospitable people and abundant culture of Davao Region, Mindanao, and the country as a whole.

This is the second time that Davao City is hosting the Alveo Iron man 70.3 after the successful staging last year. There will be 2,200 registered participants from 38 countries are joining the event.

In her Executive Order No 4, Mayor Sara ordered the temporary closure of the Davao City-Panabo City Road from the intersection of J.P. laurel Avenue and R. Castillo Street (Alcantara) up to the boundary of Davao City and Panabo City (Lasang) and the northbound lane from the intersection of J.P. laurel Ave. and R. Castillo Street up to F. Torres Street and R. Castillo St. on various dates.

For the IRONGIRLS event on March 22: R. Castillo Street – the Northbound Lane going towards Lanang from Go Green Gas Station to the intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue and R. Castillo St. (Alcantara) from 3 pm to 7 pm. The Southbound Lane (going towards Davao City Center) is open for two-way traffic.

For IRONKIDS event on March 23: R. Castillo Street – the Northbound Lane only (going towards Lanang) from corner Jerome St. to intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue and R. Castillo St. (Alcantara) from 4 am to 8 am. The Southbound Lane (going towards Davao City Center) is open for two-way traffic.

For the Alveo Ironman 70.3 event on March 24: Davao City – from the intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue/R. Castillo Street (Alcantara) up to the boundary of Davao City and Panabo City (Lasang): Northbound Lane (going towards Tagum City) from 3 am to 12:30 pm. – Southbound Lane (going towards Davao City) from 3 am to 10:30 am.

Also closed on March 24 is the intersection of J.P. Laurel Avenue and R. Castillo Street (Alcantara) up to F. Torres Street: – Northbound Lane (going towards Lanang) 3 am up to 3:30 pm. The Southbound Lane (going towards Davao City Center) is open for two-way traffic, but only up to Alcantara.

The mayor has advised all persons and motorists affected by the road closures to plan their trips ahead, use available alternate routes or amend their activity schedule on said dates. CIO
