In an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday Mayor Sara Duterte said the city government will utilize part of the Bayanihan Grant of the national government for the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) response.
The cremation of cadavers of deceased patients within 12 hours has been recommended by medical doctors.
âKita ang nagagastos sa cremation para mapaspas because ang challenge kaniadto, mao tong managhan sila [pending for cremation], dili sila maka-produce og kwarta within 12 hours, kay dapat diba i-cremate na within 12 hours, mao na ang instruction sa mga doctor (We are covering the expenses of fast-track the cremation of cadavers. There are many cadavers for cremation because families could not come up with the money within 12 hours. Cadavers must be cremated within 12 hours as instructed by the doctors),â she said.
In the Philippines, cremation services would normally cost from P25,000 to P35,000.
Records show that 47 cadavers had been cremated while 12 are still pending for cremation.
The city has three (3) crematoriums to serve such services. Of the three, one is currently undergoing repair but will be able to start service by May 3, 2020. CIO
