The City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO), in partnership with the Davao City Cooperative Development Council, has lined up a series of activities to celebrate the National Cooperative Month.
Next month’s celebration is aimed at highlighting the importance of cooperatives and the autonomous people’s organizations to establish jointly owned and controlled enterprises in nation-building.
CCDO Officer-in-Charge Donna España, during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, said the number of registered active cooperatives in the city has reached 439. These groups are urged to participate in the slated activities and join the celebration of the Cooperative Month.
On October 2, the celebration will kick off with a launching program and a ‘Larong Pinoy’ tournament at the Rizal Park.
A cooperative Trade Fair will open at the NCCC Victoria Plaza on October 10-12. The fair will feature various products and services from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
On October 14, the CCDO will deliver free medical and dental services in an outreach program in Barangay Baganihan, Marilog. A bloodletting activity will be conducted on October 20 at San Pedro Cathedral Auditorium. This will be followed by a tree planting activity in Buda, Marilog on October 21.
On October 24, representatives of active cooperative groups in Davao City are invited to participate in a Cooperative Leaders Convention at the World Palace on October 24.
The office has also organized sports events for the month. A bowling tournament for CCDO personnel and cooperative members will be held at Dover Lanes on October 16, 18, 20, 23, and 25, while a badminton tournament will be held at Smash N’ Drop on October 22.
The culmination of the monthlong celebration will take place in Mergrande Ocean Resort on October 28. CIO
