The City Engineer’s Office (CEO) and General Services Office (GSO) bets were crowned Mr. and Ms. LGU Davao City 2023 Thursday night, March 16, at the Rizal Park Dome in San Pedro Square.
CEO employee Danna Lee Ignacio Lorenzo bested 13 other candidates and pocketed the P50,000 cash prize with a trophy, sash, and crown.
Runner-up Jehtrond Sotillo Huelar of the City Information Office (CIO) settled for P30,000, a trophy, a sash, and a lay while third-placer Edwin Jake Quilisadio Bagolor went home with P20,000, a trophy, a sash, and a lay.
When asked the uniform question for the three finalists, “What one event in history do you think has made the most impact in the way we live today?,” Lorenzo cited uncontrollable natural disasters and the World War as among these events.
He said the World War began with ego, which should not have a place in one’s heart. He continued, “If you work with passion as an employee of the government and if you will find a purpose for your life’s meaning, you will be productive. That’s what we are here for. We need to find passion, purpose, and productivity to serve the people of Davao City.”
Meanwhile, Rayjean Gain Tadios Ranan of GSO wowed the judges to beat 13 other contenders. She outshone Novie Lodovice Amores of the City Veterinarian’s Office (CVO) and Jhanna Belle Dulatre Andaya of the City Health Office (CHO) to capture the Ms LGU Davao City 2023 title. She also received P50,000 cash, a crown, a sash, and a bouquet. Amores claimed P30,000 while Andaya took home P20,000 for placing second and third, respectively.
When asked what change she wishes to see in young women of the next generation, Ranan said, “Love yourself and don’t live with the standards that society has built. No, go beyond it! Love your imperfections and flaws. Don’t tell society that this is the standard, this must be followed. Be yourself, and embrace it. Love what God gave you and flaunt it.”
Despite the rain showers earlier, co-workers, friends, and family members of the 28 candidates came to support them. It was interesting to note that most participants did not have any experience joining pageants.
