The Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) last week launched the new Davao City to Boston, Davao Oriental bus route.

A total of 18 new bus units from a shuttle company now offer trips from Davao City to Boston, Davao Oriental via Compostela-Cateel-Boston and vice versa after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the new route.

“Nag-launch ang Davao Metro Shuttle Bus tungod kay naay gi-aprubahan ang atoang LTFRB nga bag-o na mga ruta. Ang Davao-Boston na 18 buses ang gi-aprubahan nila; so simultaneously gahapon naay upat from Davao City gipabyahe going to Boston, and upat pud from Boston going to Davao City (The Davao Metro Shuttle Bus did a launching because our LTFRB recently approved new routes. The Davao-Boston with 18 buses was approved by them; so simultaneously yesterday there were four buses from Davao City that we sent off to boston, and another four from Boston going to Davao City),” explained DCOTT Manager Aisa Usop in an interview with the City Information Office.

She said the new bus route was approved following a study by the LTFRB that deemed the additional route necessary.

Aside from a less crowded riding experience for passengers headed to Boston, Davao Oriental, Usop said the new bus route will also mean an increase in revenues for the city terminal.

Usop said another route going to Cateel, Davao Oriental is also in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, in order to enforce a more orderly terminal operations within DCOTT, Usop said the DCOTT had its security personnel deputized to enforce traffic regulations within and around the premises.

Authorized personnel can not only issue tickets to bus drivers impeding traffic flow in and around the terminal, but may also cite tickets to pedestrians who would not use the designated pedestrian lanes in DCOTT.

As the Kadayawan Season looms closer, Usop urged passengers to abide by security guidelines enforced by the Task Force Davao.

“We are reminding our passengers na please i-follow lang nato atong mga polisiya and guidelines na gina-implement diri sa atong DCOTT terminal. (We are reminding our passengers to please follow our policies and guidelines being implemented here in our DCOTT terminal),” she said. CIO
