Davao City sets protocol standards for buses at DCOTT

The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) and the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) management have set protocol standards to protect all passengers against coronavirus after 26 inter-provincial buses have been allowed to operate initially starting on Monday, June 1, 2020.

The CTTMO and DCOTT have installed instructional stickers and paints; washing areas; alcohol foot pumps; and, alcohol/sanitizers in public terminals to protect passengers against the coronavirus.

A total of 26 inter-provincial buses have been allowed to operate between Davao City and Davao provinces by the Public Utility Bus (PUB) Regional Franchising Regulation of the Land and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTRFB).

Each week 13 buses will leave Davao City to the four Davao provinces – Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Sur and 13 buses will enter Davao City from the four Davao provinces. This also includes buses going to and coming from Tagum City, Talaingod, Monkayo, Nabunturan, Laak, Pantukan, New Bataan, Governor Generoso, Caraga, Boston, and Digos City.

Buses for Davao del Norte and Davao Oriental will operate from Monday to Friday while the buses bound for Davao de Oro and Davao del Sur will operate from Monday to Saturday.

Each bus is limited to carry 25 passengers to maintain a social distancing protocol. This means a total of 325 passengers enter and exit Davao City every scheduled day.

CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said there is no existing regulation yet regarding interregional bus operation.

“Davao Region [lang]. By next week siguro, wa ta kabalo kung duna na’y mga interregional na bus operation… gikan sa Cagayan, gikan sa Butuan, wala pa ta’y advice sa pagkakaron (Only buses operating within Davao Region as of now. We don’t know yet if we will have interregional bus operations by next week going to/from Cagayan, Butuan. We have no advice as of now),” Abude said. CIO
