The City Government of Davao conducted the first bus route simulation for the Davao Bus Project.
The simulation, spearheaded by the Davao Bus Project Team and joined in by the Department of Transportation (DOTR), LGU Social Development Planning Team (SDPT), the City Engineer’s Office, the City Transport and Traffic Management Office, and the ARUP team, the consultant of DOTR, was conducted last September 27, 2023.
Rowena Henedine Narajos, Assistant Project Manager of the Davao Bus Project, told the Madayaw Dabaw program that the main purpose of the simulation was to check the recommended locations where the Davao Bus will traverse.
“Ita-try natin talaga if the recommended location kung saan sila liliko, at kung saan dadaan ang bus kung tama or safe for the passengers (We will try if the recommended location, where the buses turn, and traverse, is right or safe for the passengers),”Narajos said.
According to Narajos, three types of buses will be used under the Davao Bus project. These are the 9-meter buses, 12-meter buses, and 18-meter buses.
During the simulation, the team used a 12-meter bus that traversed roads leading to the city center.
The bus originated from People’s Park and then went to Diversion Road. From Diversion, it turned towards Magtuod – Tugbok Road. After reaching the road, it turned around from Manila Memorial Park and passed by the Diversion Road to Crocodile Park. From the Crocodile Park, it traversed the Ma-a Road towards the Davao City Jail, and then went to Magallanes St.
The Davao Bus project group is planning to conduct another simulation activity for other identified routes next month. CIO
