The Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office has been giving body number to motorized vehicles upon registration for motorized vehicles for hire and issuance of Motorized Tricycle Operator’s Permit (MTOP) starting last month and they are also actively giving body number specifications for drivers to follow.
“Since atong last month pa hinay-hinay to siya tungod kay tanan barangay nahimuan nato karon [og number]. Very easy na siya [to identify], sa third district nakabutang na letter diha MTH (Motorized Tricycle for Hire) – 3 meaning third district. Kung Baliok ka BLK so kung imong number sa database 001 meaning to say kaning numbera ni naay corresponding pangalan sa driver nga naka include, kung makita nagreklamo ang number dali lang kaayo ma trace nato. Mugawas dayon ang iyang nawong mugawas ang iyahang complete name. (Since last month, we have gradually implemented this in all barangays as we already created per barangay a body number. It is very easy to identify, for the third district we assigned MTH for Motorized Tricycle for Hire and 3 for the third district. If you are in Baliok you will have BLK. So if your number in the database is 001, this number has the corresponding name of the driver, if those who have complaints can see the number, we can easily trace it. The face of the driver and complete name will be shown),” CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude said in a media interview Monday after the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall grounds.
Abude said that the numbers shall be painted on the roof of the motorized vehicles for easy identification. The drivers must follow the specifications, and non-compliance with specifications means cancellation of the MTOP.
He said they found it necessary to add the body number to the roof for security reasons.
“Unang una siyempre naa ma’y panghitabo gud nga nakita nato nga naay na-capture sa CCTV tapos wala na identify (We have done this because there are incidents wherein the vehicles are captured by CCTV but were not identified),” he said.
Abude said new body numbers are given to those who renew their MTOP. The renewal of the MTOP is done at the CTTMO office.
He said that with the upcoming implementation of the city’s bus system and with the direction of limiting the number of motorized vehicles per route, motorized vehicles with incomplete requirements or specifications may not be renewed. CIO
