The Educational Benefit System Unit of the City Government of Davao announces the opening of its scholarship program for School Year 2020-2021. Interested applicants may apply beginning June 3- 24, 2020.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS. To qualify for the Scholarship Program, a student should possess the following qualifications in order to qualify in either category.

Scholarship on Tertiary Education Program (STEP)

1. Must have a General Weighted Average grade of at least 93%

2. Must be a resident of Davao City;

3. Should be of good moral character;

4. Must belong to an indigent or below average income earning family, as pre-determined by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO)

5. Must be a graduate of any public secondary or private schools in Davao City;

6. Must not be a recipient of any scholarship/financial aids/grants from any government agency, non-government agency, foundation, and the like except for academic scholarship granted by the school for honor students;

7. Only one (1) child per family can avail the scholarship;

8. Shall enroll in, but not limited to, any of the courses prescribed by STEP, in accordance with the priority programs provided by CHED;

9. Shall enroll in any school in Davao City, duly recognized by the Commission on Higher Education;

 

MEDICAL AND LAW EDUCATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:

 1. Must be a resident of Davao City;

2. Must be a bonafide graduate of any Bachelor’s Degree in any University or College;

3. For those entering the first year class, the candidate must have an average grade of 85% or its equivalent with no grade below 75% in any and all subjects comprising the candidate’s Degree course;

4. For those entering the second year to fourth year class, the candidate must have an average grade of 77% or its equivalent with no grade below 75% in any subjects in both semesters of the immediate preceding year level ( for example, 1st year for incoming 2nd year student);

5. The candidate must be physically fit and must be of good moral character;

6. Must be in need of financial assistance evidenced by a Statement of Assets and liabilities (for applicants with parents working with the government) and/or Income Tax Return of the applicants’ parent or legal guardian, and Certificate of Indigency or Eligibility (per E.O. No. 25, series of 2011) and family Data Sheet from CSWDO;

7. Must not be a grantee of any scholarship grant, financial assistance or any aid from any government, non-government foundation and the like; and

8. Must not have a parent or sibling who is already an existing grantee of any scholarship from the City Government.

 

DOCUMENTARY REQUIREMENTS. As basis for the approval of the student’s application for the scholarship program, and prior to the execution of a contract between the City Government of Davao and the grantee, the latter shall submit to the Educational Benefit System Unit (EBSU) Office the following documents, to wit:

For Scholarship on Tertiary Education Program (STEP) applicants.

1. Report Card in K-12 for incoming college freshmen at least 93% Gen. Average (Photo-copy).

2. Transcript of Records for 2nd year to 4th year college (Photo-copy). ALS Accreditation & Equivalency Test for ALS graduate (Photo-copy).

3. Certificate of Residency from the Barangay where the applicant reside (Original copy).

4. Certificate of Indigency or Eligibility from the City Social Welfare and Development Office (Original)

5. Income Tax Return (ITR) of both parents (if both are working) or Certificate of Tax Exception (if non-working) from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). (Photo copy).

6. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the school where applicant graduated (Photo copy).

7. 1 piece 2×2 picture of the applicant.

 

FOR LAW AND MEDICAL EDUCATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

1. Transcript of Records (Photo copy) with no failing grades.

2. Certification of General Weighted Average at least 85% from the school where the applicant graduated.

3. National Medical Admission Test Result for Med applicant.

4. Philippine Law School Admission Test (PhilSAT) for Law applicant (optional).

5. Certificate of Residency (Original).

6. Certificate of Admission from the Davao City based Medical and Law school.

7. Certificate of Good Moral Character.

8. Medical Certificate issued by a government hospital.

9. Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net worth of applicants parent or legal guardian where available.

10. Income Tax Return of both parents (both are working) or Certificate of Tax Exemption (if non-working). (Photo-copy)

11. Certificate of Indigency or Eligibility (Original)

12. Certification from the Medical and Law school that the applicant has not availed of any other scholarship grant offered by or administered by the school.

13. Sworn statement that the applicant has no parent or sibling who is already a grantee of any scholarship from the City Government.

14. 1 piece 2×2 i.d. picture.

 

FOR APPLICANTS INFORMATION:

  • All documents shall be submitted at the designated EBSU Drop Box located at the Davao City Recreation Center (formerly Almendras Gym) on or before June 23, 2020 from 8:00 – 5:00 PM.
  • All documents shall be fastened together in a long yellow folder with your printed name at the side portion of the folder, following the sequence of requirements as above written. Incomplete requirements shall be automatically disregarded.
  • Qualified applicants shall be informed thru SMS of the schedule of interview. The conduct of interview proper shall be thru mobile phone or video call.

 

  1. Result of qualified applicants shall be posted at the City Government of Davao FB page on or before end of August, 2020.
