Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte has given the Indak Indak sa Kadayawan a perfect score of 10 with its success in showcasing Davao Cityâs culture and keeping an orderly and safe celebration.
âThe Indak Indak was a success. This was fun and perfect for everyone. Of course, I will give a rating of a perfect 10,â said Baste, who have actively taken the lead in this yearâs celebration in the absence of Mayor Inday Sara Duterte, who took a leave of absence since July.
VM Baste said the staging of the event on Saturday was perfect for everybody, including tourists to enjoy. The street dancing drew thousands of Dabawenyos, domestic and foreign tourists to witness the event.
Besides, the main program, VM Baste said all systems also worked to have a safe celebration.
He cited the security sector for a well-coordinated and well-prepared security arrangement from the starting point of the street dancing to the final staging venue at the San Pedro Square, which was recently declared a Maximum Security Zone.
âWe prepared a lot for this day, the security sector worked hard so that we can have a peaceful celebration,â he said.
VM Baste also hailed the participants of the street dancing competition for giving their best in showcasing the culture of the different tribes.
This year, the Catalunan Pequeño National High School was declared champion of the street dancing in the Davao City school-based category, followed by the Magallanes Elementary School in second; the Buhangin District Performing Arts Guild in third; Don Juan dela Cruz Central Elementary School in fourth; and. the Lapu-Lapu Elementary School in fifth place.
In the Open category, the Sindac Anib Performing Ensemble of Bislig, Surigao del Sur took home the major prize as this yearâs champion, followed by the Elizalde National High School of Maco, Compostela Valley in the second; the Mati National Comprehensive High School in third; the Lupon National Comp. High School in Davao Oriental in fourth; and the Kablacan Integrated School in Sarangani Province in fifth place.
In the Champion Circle Category, the Sta. Ana Performing Arts Guild took home the grand prize of P1.2 million, followed by the Mabini National High School â Special Program in the Arts; and, the Sining Sayon Dawet Cultural Ensemble. CIO
