As one of the highlights of the 38th Kadayawan Festival, the Pamulak sa Kadayawan contest, and the Hudyaka sa Kadayawan have shown the vibrance and abundance of Davao – backdropped by amazing musical talents and skills of the Dabawenyo and guests in drum and lyre.
The Pamulak sa Kadayawan Gamay and Dako Category awed spectators with creative designs that depict Davao City icons and good harvest.
The grand champion for this year’s Pamulak sa Kadayawan Dako Category is VXI Global Holdings B.V. with its float “Kahayag sa Kalipay”
that depicts a “kaleidoscope of colors with symbolisms of Davao City’s bountiful harvest, diverse wildlife, and iconic landmarks.”
Coming in second is Air Asia while Vista Mall Davao came in third.
For the Gamay Category, Alorica Teleservices Inc bagged the grand prize followed by Teleperformance, which bagged the second place while the Philippine Retirement Authority bagged the third place.
The grand winners of the Gamay and Dako Category pocketed PhP 600,000 and PhP 800,000 respectively.
On the other hand, Hudyaka sa Kadayawan – a competition open to all school-based drum and lyre/drum and bugle/brass and marching bands in the city and nearby cities and provinces- also became a spectacle during the Pamulak.
Magallanes Elementary School claimed the title in this year’s Hudyaka sa Kadayawan, with Carmen National High School as
first runner-up and the Mintal Comprehensive High School was third runner-up.
This year’s winner claimed worth Php 400,000 cash prize. It also claimed cash prizes for Best Music, Best Color Guard, and Best Conductor.
with a prize of 30,000 each.
Best in Artistic Design was clinched by the Mintal Comprehensive High School.
Davao City Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain, who noted that the Pamulak and Hudyaka are the second to the last event scheduled for the 38th Kadayawan Festival, thanked everyone present in every Kadayawan event and also the people behind these events.
“I will take this opportunity to thank everybody who was a part of and contributed dearly to the success of the 38th Kadayawan. Let us not forget the private sector, all the sponsors, all the government workers, the peacekeeping forces, our medical teams, and all our local and foreign tourists who have traveled from far just to be here in Davao City to celebrate with us in this once a year celebration of Davao City, showcasing the eleven tribes of Davao City thank you very much,” Quitain said.
Quitain also thanked Dabawenyos who came to the event area to cheer and celebrate the Kadayawan and also those who are watching through Facebook Live.
“Thank you for all your support and well wishes for the success of the 38th Kadayawan Festival,” Quitain said.
The Pamulak and Hudyaka sa Kadayawan preceded the Konsierto Kadayawan, which is the last event of the 38th Kadayawan Festival. The event features an array of local music and bands. CIO
