The 2023 Hulagway sa Davao Photo Contest is set to showcase the best of Davao City’s annual celebration through the lens of talented amateur and professional photographers.
The competition aims to reward outstanding photos that capture the spirit of the festivities and highlight the colorful and vibrant culture of the city.
Aspiring photographers from all walks of life are encouraged to join the free registration event.
Entries must have been taken from March 1-18, 2023, and should fit into one of the four categories outlined in the contest guidelines. These categories include Pag-Abli sa Araw, Kalingawan sa Araw, Talento sa Araw, and Kaanyag sa Araw.
To qualify, participants must submit at least one entry per category and may submit up to three entries per category. The photographs must be original works, owned by the participant, and must not have been used or entered in any other contest or published in any media before the competition.
Participants may submit their high-quality images in portrait or landscape format via email to the official Hulagway sa Davao email address: hulagwaycio@gmail.com. All entries must be named in the specified format, indicating the category, the participant’s full name, and the title of the photo entry.
A panel of judges will pre-select up to 15 photos from each category, shortlisting a total of 60 photo finalists for the competition’s final round. The finalists will be announced on the Hulagway Facebook page on March 21, 2023, and will be required to submit printed copies of their qualified entry/entries on March 22-24, 2023.
The judges will evaluate the photographs based on criteria such as composition, originality, creativity, and relevance to the theme. The winners will receive cash prizes and trophies, with the top three winners bagging P20,000, P15,000, and P10,000. There is also a Mayor’s Choice award of 5,000 pesos plus a trophy, and 17 category-based consolation prizes.
By entering the competition, participants agree and acknowledge that the City Information Office (CIO) is permitted to receive their registration data. All personal information will be used under CIO’s privacy policy. Submission of entries signifies the acceptance of the rules and regulations of the contest.
The Hulagway sa Dabaw is an excellent opportunity for talented photographers to showcase their skills and creativity while celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage.
