Davao City’s Museo Dabawenyo is now once again open to the public from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily except Sunday.
Museo Dabawenyo Officer-In-Charge Winnie Rose Galay-Bulig said that the Museo received 12 visitors on its soft opening Tuesday, March 14, and already received bookings. Bulig said she expects an increase in visitors in the coming days.
Located along the PWC-MFAMSC University Ave., Juna Subd. Matina (near the Philippine Women’s College), Museo Dabawenyo still features The History of Davao in 50 objects which can still be viewed in a 3D virtual tour on bit.ly/2Q0vC92.
It is an added feature since the start of the pandemic. “Naga-adjust pa siguro ang mga tao kay siyempre bag-o rapud ta naka recover sa new normal. Sa near future or pipila ka adlaw moubay-ubay na kay daghan na nakapabook (People are still adjusting as we just recovered to new normal. In the near future the numbers is expected to increase because many have made their bookings),” Bulig said in an interview with the City Information Office on Tuesday.
Bulig said the Museo still features the same 50 objects while construction of the National Museum of the Philippines at People’s Park is ongoing. The National Museum may be opened end of the year or early next year.
Bulig said the Museo will cater to ten visitors at a time due to the limited space. Visitors are required to wear face masks and bringing food and beverages is not allowed inside the gallery area.
For group tours, advanced booking of at least one month is encouraged.
“So we only limit number of applicants sa karon. One month ahead gina-encourage sila na magbook, para dili gyud ma-doble ang mubisita. (We can only limit the number of applicants for now. We encourage them to book one month ahead to ensure the number of visitors),” she added.
