The Davao City Tourism and Operations Office (CTOO) has confirmed meeting with investors for tourism packages during the investment and tourism roadshow in Osaka and the meeting of stakeholders held after the Sennan-Davao City Sisterhood Agreement Signing.

CTOO Officer-in-Charge Jennifer Romero, among the Davao delegates during the Japan visit, told reporters on Monday, May 8, 2023 that the roadshow was very fruitful and among its indicators is the meeting with Japan-based wholesalers who are selling destinations in the Philippines

“During the investment and tourism roadshow atoang gi meet ang possible na investors and ang mga stakeholders mga wholesalers nga travel agency who are selling destinations sa Philippines sila na ang mga wholesalers nga maghimo og packages para ibaligya nila sa Japan market then ilahang ipadala diri sa Philippines, that is also a good indication. (During the investment and tourism roadshow we were able to meet possible investors and stakeholders, travel agency-wholesalers who are selling destinations in the Philippines. They are the wholesalers who will make packages to be sold in the Japanese market for tourists who will come here in the Philippines and that is also a good indication),” Romero said.

She added that they were also able to meet wholesalers from Japan who were able to travel to Davao City even
before the pandemic.

“We also invited them now that we already have a face-to-face Kadayawan. Hopefully, they can visit this coming August,” Romero added.

She said that the tourism roadshow opened up possibilities for Davao City to be rediscovered and to come up with forged partnerships.

Romero said that during the visit, Davao-Japan flights were discussed. However, this plan is not yet concrete. Romero said that they will not stop lobbying for Davao-Japan direct flights and they will work out the tapping of airlines based in the Philippines to make this possible.

Meanwhile, apart from tourism, an official from the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) confirmed to the City Information Office that as an offshoot of the Tokyo Business Forum attended by the Davao City delegation and Japanese companies in a wide range of industries last April 26, 2023, abaca and coconut husk product investors from Japan will come to the City on May 15 (for Abaca) and the first week of June for (coconut husks).
