Qindao City officials from the People’s Republic of China are eyeing a sisterhood agreement with Davao City to boost investment and tourism exchanges.
The plan was discussed during the courtesy visit of the delegates from Qingdao City to Vice Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte on Wednesday.
Vice Mayor Baste, who received the Qingdao delegates headed by Standing Committee Chair Song Yuanfang, discussed the areas the two cities can explore.
“They are very interested to explore Davao City. I advised them to take a tour of the city so that they can see on their own the possible areas that they can explore here,” he said.
If the sisterhood pact pushes through, Qingdao is the 4th city of China that Davao City has a sisterhood agreement. The other China sister cities of Davao are Jinjiang, Kitakyushu and Nanning. Qingdao is located in the Shandong Province in China and is known for its beer.
Davao city investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) head April Marie Dayap said there are various areas that the two cities can explore as part of the sister city agreement.
“Qingdao is the 6th largest city in the world, so I think the Vice Mayor is correct in saying that we can learn something good from them,” she said.
“This will be a good venue to exchange trade and learn experience from Qingdao. They even brought with them their business delegations to signify their sincerity in exploring a sister city agreement,” Dayap said. CIO
