The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has prepared a total of 300 traffic personnel to man the open and closed streets for the Alveo Ironman 70.3 race.

CTTMO Head Dionisio Abude in an interview with reporters after the weekly flag ceremony on Monday, said that a traffic management plan for the road closures for Ironman Race has been in place. Some of the 300 personnel designated will man the alternate route from Tagum to Milan, Buhangin.

“Almost 300 plus ang akong gipa deploy from Azuela up to may Robinsons Tagum. (I deployed 300 plus from Azuela to Robinsons Tagum),” Abude said, adding they also asked for assistance from Task Force Davao, Tagum Police, Panabo Police, and Carmen Police to man the alternate road.

For the guidance of motorists from Tagum to Davao City, and those that will use the alternate route, they have already distributed 20 traffic advisories each for Tagum, Carmen, and Panabo.

For those who will take the Civil Service Exams in Davao City, three buses are provided – one at Gaisano Mall, Tagum City, Jollibee- Panabo City, and one in front of the terminal in Carmen.

Abude reminds the public that road closures will be implemented on March 24, road closure will start from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Castillo St., –northbound lane only, going to Lanang from corner Azuela Cove to corner San Nicolas Road (Techno-Trade Resources Davao) for the IronGirl. On March 25, the road closure will start from 5 a.m.- 9 p.m. – from R. Castillo St., northbound lane only from corner Azuela to corner Jerome St.

On March 26, for the Ironman, road closure will be implemented at Daang Maharlika Highway from Azuela Cove to Lasang (Panabo-Tagum) starting at 3 a.m. By 10:30 a.m. the southbound lane will be open for two-way vehicular traffic, and by 12:30 p.m., the northbound lane shall be open for vehicular traffic.

For the run course, the road closure will be implemented from the northbound lane going to Lanang from corner J.P. Laurel Ave./F. Torres St., to R. Castillo (J.P Laurel Avenue) Azuela Cove from 3 a.m. -3:30 p.m. The southbound lane going downtown shall remain open and utilized for two-way traffic.
