DAVAO City is coming up with guidelines for contact sports that are fit for implementation in the city under more relaxed anti-Covid movement restrictions.
In an interview on the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) Thursday, Davao City Sports Division Chief Mikey Aportadera said that his office is consulting with the health experts in the city on how to implement the new guidelines for contact sports to ensure the sports activities or events will not become COVID-19 spreader. These guidelines for contact sports are expected to come out anytime soon.
âGikonsulta nato if the venue can be in the controlled and regulated area, for example, naay mga padula na the government and the organizer can somehow partner sa pagmanage ani pagpadagan ani nga event nga dili ta makapadaghan og mga cases sa Davao City. (We consulted if the venue can be in a controlled and regulated area, for example, there are games that the government and the organizer can somehow partner to manage the event that cannot contribute to the rise of cases in Davao City),â Aportadera said.
The guidelines on the nationwide implementation of the Alert Level Systems for Covid-19 Response as of November 11, 2021, allow âContact sports approved by the LGU where such games shall be heldâ. This means that the contact sports opening is not automatic and still subject to the approval and discretion of the local government, Aportadera said.
He emphasized taking precautions in opening the areas for contact sports because it may result in adverse consequences.
âMas maayo na i-prioritize nato ang safety sa tanan bag-o nato ni siya ablihan sa tanan. Nakasabot pud ko sa inyong kamingaw sa inyuhang mga dula, basketball, volleyball, football but we cannot compromise the safety of everybody, so sabton lang sa nato, hulaton gyud nato kay amoa na ni siyang gihisgotan og tarong so hopefully we can come up next week og LGU tailored-fit na guidelines for Davao City for contact sports (It is best to prioritize the safety of all before these sites are opened. I understand how you missed playing basketball, volleyball, football but we cannot compromise the safety of everybody. So I am asking for your understanding, and to wait for the guidelines because we are discussing about it thoroughly and hopefully, we can come up next week with tailored-fit guidelines for Davao City for contact sports),â Aportadera said.
He assured the public that his office is looking into the proper implementation of these provisions of Alert Level 2 and carefully crafting the proposed guidelines for adoption and approval of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force. CIO
