The Davao City government has rolled out the “Aktibo Dabawenyo” – an online health and wellness program for Dabawenyos to remain fit at home.

In “Aktibo Dabawenyo”, the City Sports Office is providing a three-minute video weekly containing fitness information that the viewers can do at home using things available in their homes. The video is uploaded at the Byaheng DO30 Facebook Page.

City Sports Officer-in-Charge Mikey Aportadera on Tuesday launched the program since people have problems staying fit because of less physical activities outside during the community quarantine.

“We become less mobile, less active, kay naa ra ta sa balay (because we are just at home). So we decided to bring the program to you,” he said.

He added that the City Sports need to adopt the new normal way of the fitness lifestyle as many sports activities and events like Ironman 70.3 are postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Mao na ni ang new normal sa Davao (This is the new normal for Davao). Let’s get Dabawenyos to exercise at their homes.”

The City Sports also invited fitness experts like the physical therapists to talk about the proper stretching and to exercise properly, and the sports nutritionists to talk about calorie intake in food. CIO
