A total of 5,886 jobs will be open to jobseekers in the 2023 Oplan Kabuhayan Job Fair at the SM City Davao-Annex Activity Center on Saturday (September 23).
Spearheaded by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Davao City and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the Oplan Kabuhayan will be the 38th job fair held in the city this year.
Based on past job fairs, approximately 10 percent of applicants end up being hired on the spot or a few weeks after applying, according to PESO-Davao Manager Lilibeth Pantinople.
Pantinople, during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday, said for this Saturdayâs job fair, a total of 31 local employers have opened 1,925 job vacancies, while eight overseas employers will offer 3,961 employment slots. Most local job vacancies call for delivery riders, operations management trainees, and drivers, while the top jobs abroad are for nurses, medical laboratory technologists, and on-call cleaners.
According to DOLE XI, employment rate in Davao Region marginally improved from 96.2% in April 2022 to 96.7% in April 2023.
PESO and DOLE offer various employment assistance programs such as free pre-employment seminars to prepare job-seekers for the hiring process and improve their chances of being hired.
On September 23, applicants will not only have the chance to seize job opportunities as they can also avail themselves of free legal assistance and counsel for any employment-related concerns.
âApart didto sa atoang mga invited employers, we also have jobseekersâ assistance desk wherein we invited agencies from the government and also one of our partners will offer free legal assistance during the job fair,â Lorraine Grace Ugsang, Focal Person of DOLE XI Davao City Field Office Employment program, said.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Philippine Statistics Authority will also set up their own assistance desk during the fair.
Applicants are urged to join the job fair and are advised to bring 5 sets of resumes, certificate of employment (if applicable), and birth certificate. Business attire is recommended. CIO
