The Office for Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) on Friday opened another satellite office in Bunawan District.
Located in Barangay Bunawan Proper, the new office aims to deliver services to senior citizens in Bunawan District and neighboring areas and save them the trouble of having to travel downtown to avail themselves of services and assistance from OSCA.
The Bunawan office is OSCAâs 4th satellite office in the city, with another in Barangay Angliongto set to open later this month.
Wednesdayâs launching was attended by leaders of the Federation of Senior Citizens from the different barangays in the district who were introduced to OSCA personnel assigned to the new satellite office.
Senior citizenâs ID issuance, financial assistance distribution, OSCA registration, and responding to complaints on denied senior citizen benefits and privileges are only some of the services the new office will cater.
OSCA Head Pastor Luis Moran said apart from the office in the CSWDO main building on Pichon Street and the main office in Toril, the OSCA satellite offices in the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Matina Crossing, and Tugbok are also delivering the same services to clients. He said the office will be adding livelihood programs and medical assistance to its services.
Moran said they plan to open at least one OSCA satellite office in all 11 administrative districts of the city in order to deliver services to more senior citizens.
Seventy-five-year-old Vicente Dela Torre, Chapter President of the Federation of Senior Citizens in Bunawan, said he was happy with the establishment of a new satellite office closer to his home. He said with the new office, senior citizens like himself will no longer have to go to the OSCA main office which can consume a lot of time and money.
âNagpasalamat koâg dako kay ang mga senior citizens dili na muadtoâg layo, diri na lang sila, labi na gyud ang taga-diri, kay ang problema man gyud sa mga seniors diri kay ang ilang pag-adto didto (We are very happy because the senior citizens will no longer have to go far, they can transact here, especially the residents here, because the problem of the seniors here is having to go downtown),â he said.
In a message read by Councilor Diosdado Mahipos, Jr., Mayor Sebastian Duterte thanked the senior population of the city for their years of dedicated service and their contributions to the growth of the city. CIO
