Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte assured the public of the city government’s continued distribution of food assistance while the extended period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in Davao Region is in effect until April 26, 2020.

Mayor Sara said the unhampered relief assistance also holds in other parts of the region as agreed with all Davao governors.

“We will continue to send them support for the duration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” the mayor said.

Mayor Sara made this assurance on Wednesday as she announced the extension of ECQ until April 26, 2020, following her meeting with the Davao Region COVID-19 Task Force. The extension of the ECQ in Davao Region means the continued prohibition of entry to Davao by land, sea and air travel in Davao Region.

This week, the city government has completed the first round of food relief distribution reaching close to half a million families and individuals in different barangays. A total of 428,571 grocery packs have been distributed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) or over 70,000 more than the 350,000 total packs planned by the city.

Two more rounds of the food distribution are scheduled. Aside from the normal relief packs, the city has also started rolling out the distribution of agri-foods to those without food ration cards. CIO
