The City Government of Davao, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), continue to disburse the annual subsidy allowance of P1,500 to senior citizens in the city’s three districts on Monday, April 4, 2022.
CSWDO Acting Administrative Officer Juliet Dayaday bared this during the Serbisyo Dabawenyo program of 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).
She said, “Nagapadayon atoang pag-distribute sa ayuda sa atoang mga senior citizens (We continue to distribute the subsidy to the city’s senior citizens).”
CSWDO personnel catered to senior citizens in Calinan District at the Calinan Poblacion Gym while seniors residing in barangays Megkawayan, Saloy, Lamanan, and Inayangan received their allowances at Megkawayan Gym.
Seniors in Talomo River, Dacudao, Biao Joaquin, and Pangyan were served at the Talomo River Gym while those coming from Marilog District were catered at CSWDO.
“Additional nato ni sila nga beneficiaries. Karon ra ni nga mga iskedyul, magpaabot na pud ta unsang payroll mugawas sa City Treasurer’s Office (These are our additional beneficiaries. That’s our payout schedule today, we will have to wait again for the payroll that will be released by the City Treasurer’s Office),” she said, adding that they are just finishing the 2021 payout.
Dayaday also said they are currently validating the names of senior beneficiaries for the 2022 payout.
Dalahon sad ang original (We hope to complete the validation of names since there are still seniors who were not included as they were not yet validated. But even if they are not yet validated, they can go to the CSWDO to get listed, they should just bring the original and a photocopy of their senior ID).
It can be recalled that Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio issued Executive Order No. 1, Series of 2021, on January 20, 2021, to institutionalize and effectively implement the provisions of City Ordinance No. 0105-19, Series of 2019. The ordinance aimed to support the senior citizens in their medicines and other expenses relative to their health, mandating the grant of an annual minimum financial assistance of P1,500.
The EO stated that beneficiaries must be 65 years old and above during the calendar year; must be a holder of a Senior Citizens Identification Card duly issued by the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (Osca) of Davao City, must be a member of a Senior Citizens Organization duly recognized by Osca and City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO); and must be listed in the master list duly prepared by Osca and CSWDO in a given year.
An indisposed senior citizen who fails to register at Comelec or Osca due to illness and the Covid-19 pandemic, however, must present a certification issued by the barangay showing that he or she is a resident of Davao City as verified by the CSWDO assigned in the barangay.
The order also mandates the creation of a grievance committee that will resolve any qualification issue of a concerned senior citizen, as referred by Osca within three working days. CIO
