The Davao City government has already completed its third round of rice distribution to its 182 barangays.

“Nacomplete na nato ang third round sa paghatag nato sa atoang mga bugas dinha sa mga communities (We have completed our third round of rice distribution to the communities),” Mayor Inday Sara Duterte said in an interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

Davao City has downloaded sacks of rice through the barangay councils. Depending on the population, each barangay received a minimum of 3,000 kilos of rice through their barangay council. More sacks are downloaded to a barangay with a higher population.

Mayor Sara said it is now prepared for the fourth round of rice distribution.

The rice distribution complements the other food relief programs of the city government since March when lockdown measures were imposed to slow the further spread of the coronavirus disease.

The other food assistance programs are the food ration by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO); fresh goods by the City Agriculturist Office and City Veterinarian’s Office (Agri-Vet); and the food distribution coming from the private sector donations which are repacked by the Mayor’s Quick Response Team.
