The City Social Welfare and Development (CSWDO) is set to conduct city-wide simultaneous Children’s Fun Day Celebration activities for disadvantaged children from July 11-20.

CSWDO Focal Person for Pre-School Children Concerns Division Ariel Aguilar said that the main purpose of the events is to ensure that the children can exercise their rights regardless of their status, and create fun memories while showcasing their talents and skills by having a healthy competition with their peers.

Aguilar said this year’s activities will be limited face-to-face but mark the resumption of activities for Children, which were halted by the pandemic. The Children’s Fun Day is conducted every July by virtue of Proclamation 35 of then-mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

For this year’s events, children at risk, Children-in-Conflict with the Law (CICL), and victims of abuse are among those who will be identified by the district offices to join.

“Gihatagan og priority ang disadvantaged, basin dili makaya kung dghan kaayo mu-participate, next year tanan makasalmot ani nga aktbidades (We gave priority to the disadvantaged, we cannot cater to many. Next year, everyone will be invited to participate in these events),” he said.

“We proposed Larong pinoy, atoa na’ng gipadangat sa atoang 14 ka administrative district offices sa atoang CSWDO sila ang dunay dako nga katungod sa pagpahimutang and pagpatuman sa aktibidades (We proposed Larong Pinoy and we already relayed this to the 14 administrative district offices of the CSWDO. These administrative districts will be in charge of the activities),” Aguilar said.

Aguilar said that while Larong Pinoy will be conducted in the district, a separate Sabayang Pagbigkas will be done during the city-wide contest. The Sabayang Pagbigkas should be an original piece and should revolve around the theme, “Sa Pagbangon sa Pandemya, Kabataan may Magagawa Ka”. In the contest proper, each district shall have 8-10 participants who will recite their original piece.  The entry will be recorded through video and will be submitted on July 18 and sent to the CSWDO-main office for judging. The declaration of winners will be on July 22.

Currently, the administrative districts are identifying soon-to-be participants from the disadvantaged children’s group.
