The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) celebrates its 30th Anniversary.
Davao City CSWDO Head Atty. Marlisa A. Gallo said the event on October 1st was memorable since it has been 30 years since the office started providing services to Dabawenyos from birth to death or âwomb to tombâ.
âIka-30th year na ni CSWDO since we were devolved. Taas-taas na gyud pud og panahon si CSWDO dinhi sa City of Davao because we came from the national government, we used to be under the DSWD but by virtue of Republic Act 7160 nabalhin mi diri sa city of Davao. (It is the 30th year of the CSWDO since it was devolved. CSWDO has been under the city for so long now because we came from the national government and we used to be from the DSWD but by virtue of Republic Act 7160 we are transferred to Davao City),â Gallo said.
CSWDO has served 987,101 clients in 2021 in various clientele systems, a 10.49% increase from the 893,365 clients served in 2020. Most of the number served were victims of calamities.
The office has various services and programs for family welfare, womenâs welfare, persons with disability, elderly persons, emergency, childrenâs welfare, youth, and early childhood care and development. It also provides residential care services at Lingap Center for Children, Quick Response Team for Children Center (QRTCC), Childrenâs Village Of Davao City (Bahay Pag-asa), Crisis Intervention Center â Balay Dangupan, Co Su Gian â Home for the Aged, Paginhawaan Drop-In Center for Children, Sidlakan Women Crisis Center, and the Kalinaw Village for former rebels.
Gallo said that their office is currently focusing on the implementation of City Ordinance No. 0727-21, Series of 2021, also known as âAn Order Honoring Centenarians in The City of Davao,â and the Annual Financial Assistance for Senior Citizens.
Ordinance No. 0727-21 entitles centenarians to Php 100,000 and a plaque from the city government of Davao. This is given to those who turned 100 starting December 2, 2021. An event honoring the centenarian awardees is also set on October 3, 2022 where a total of 32 awardees are validated and will be receiving cash incentives.
In 2021, there were also 159,714 elderly aged 65 years old and above who received the one-time annual subsidy of Pho 1,500 per Ordinance No. 0105-19, Series of 2019, also known as âAn Ordinance Granting Annual Financial Assistance to All Qualified Senior Citizens of Davao Cityâ. A total of 92,772 elderly, who were not receiving pensions, benefitted from the social pension program.
The Annual Financial Assistance to senior citizens 65 years old and above for the year 2022 is already planned to be released this November.
Qualified 60 years old and upâdeclared eligible by virtue of the amendment of Ordinance No. 0105-19, Series of 2019, are now being validated and master listed in barangays in order for them to start receiving their Php 1,500 cash assistance next year.
On the occasion of its 30th anniversary Saturday, October 1, 2022, CSWDO employees will have a thanksgiving mass, and foot parade, and will enjoy activities such as Larong Pinoy at Peopleâs Park. CIO
