The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) aims to provide additional food and non-food items this week to the affected families of the December 27, 2023 fire at Leon Garcia.

“Continue lang gihapon ang paghatag nato sa ilahang hot meals sa mobile kitchen. Naghatag ta’g modular tent para sa kadtong mga wala’y rooms sa school, sa Manuel Garcia Elementary School. Ang CMO pud naa pu’y nahatag nga mga hygiene kits ug bugas and siguro later  makahatag nami sa food and non-food assistance (We continue the distribution of the hot meals from the mobile kitchen. We also provided modular tents for those who do not have rooms at Manuel Garcia Elementary School. The City Mayor’s Office has provided hygiene kits and rice and maybe later, our office will also distribute the food and non-food assistance,” CSWDO Agdao District Head Amy Buot said in an interview with the City Information Office on Thursday.

She said that based on the assessment as of Thursday morning, they have recorded a total of 273 affected families and 23 individuals for the two puroks: San Vicente and San Roque. Data for purok Sto. Niño is not yet available at the time of the interview.

Buot said that they started encoding the data of affected families and they are eyeing to finalize the listing as soon as possible.

As for the financial assistance, Buot said that they do not have a target date but it may hopefully be released by next year.

“Mga next year na siguro ni kay naa pud biya ta’y sunog pod sa Leon Garcia ug sa Barangay Duterte, hopefully, karon nga week mahatagan napud to sila og financial assistance (It may be distributed next year because we also have a [separate] fire incident at Leon Garcia and Barangay Duterte, hopefully, this week they will receive their financial assistance),” Buot said.

She said that the donation drive for the December 27 fire victims is ongoing and items for donation may be dropped at the CSWDO office or in the barangay center. CIO
