The Davao City Cooperative Development Office (CCDO) will roll out its Koop Kabalitaan Serbisyo Caravan program starting March 20 to assist micro and small cooperatives all over the city in complying with their general membership requirements.

The service caravan will be in 11 locations to help cooperatives and their members fulfill requirements set by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).

“We do this every year, this Koop Kabalitaan Serbisyo Caravan, to help our micro and small cooperatives— especially tong mga naay challenges —pag-submit sa ilahang mga mandatory reports sa CDA (We do this every year, this Koop Kabalitaan Serbisyo Caravan, to help our micro and small cooperatives— especially those facing challenges —in submitting their mandatory reports of the CDA),” explained CCDO Head Luzminda Eblamo during a Davao City Disaster Radio program aired on Tuesday.

Eblamo said small cooperatives with no access to the internet will be assisted in the online submission of requirements to the CDA so that members may keep their general membership.

The caravan will also act as a census of cooperatives in the city while assessing the performance of grass roots ones.

Davao City currently has 829 active cooperatives. The CCDO, Eblamo said, prioritizes micro and small cooperatives in its start-up capital grant and other assistance programs.

Eblamo added that the CCDO aims to reach and assist cooperatives in the most far-flung areas where cooperatives are starting to thrive. She said Paquibato district, which had the least number of active cooperatives, now has more than 20 cooperatives, most of which are agri-producers’ groups.

A few Indigenous People cooperatives have also been formed throughout the city.

“Sa mga IPs nato, we’re reaching out, especially sa pag-hone sa skills nila producing kadtong ilahang mga katutubong handicraft. Daghan mga stakeholders nagatabang ug naga-coordinate sa amoa para matabangan ni (We are reaching out to our IPs, especially in honing their skills in producing their traditional handicraft), said Elba.

After IP cooperative members are trained by the CCDO, they immediately become eligible to financial assistance for additional capital.

On March 20 and 27, the Koop Kabalitaan and Serbisyo Caravan will be catering to the cooperatives in the Poblacion District at the Sangguniang Panlungsod. On March 28, the caravan will be in the COA Gymnasium in Buhangin.

The CCDO will be assisting cooperatives in Baguio District on April 11, Talomo on April 12, and Agdao and Bunawan Districts on April 13. On April 19, the caravan will be serving cooperatives in the Calinan District.

On April 20, it will be at the Mintal Civic Center Conference for Tugbok District, followed by the SRD Training Centerin Marahan, Marilog on April 21. The caravan will visit the Malabog Gymnasium in Paquibato District on April 26. CIO
