A total of 73 job seekers for local and overseas were hired on the spot during the three-day Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) Job fair on June 10 to 12 organized by the Davao City Public Employment and Services Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI – Davao City Field Office.

PESO Office head Lilibeth Pantinople in an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) said that the job fair was successful with the number of individuals hired on the spot and the number of individuals who registered for the event.

Out of the 73 hired on the spot, 65 are for local employment and 8 for overseas.

“Taas na na siya nga number (for hired on the spot) compared sa uban nga job fair nga gihimo nato. Nakita nato nga daghan gyud ang need sa atoang companies (That is a high number for hired on the spot compared to the other job fairs we have conducted. We saw that many are needed by the companies),” Pantinople said.

Aside from “hired on the spot”, a total of 275 are also near-hire applicants, of which 212 for local, and 63 for overseas jobs. “Near hires” are those who were considered hired but need to submit additional requirements or may need further interviews or tests.

PESO reported that out of the 822 registered job applicants 644 were able to meet the pre-requisites of the job vacancies posted by the employers.

After the successful Kalayaan TNK Job fair, Pantinople said that they plan to conduct more job fairs. This time, it will be in the far-flung areas and district PESO offices.

PESO will also organize job fairs on:

– June 15, 2022 – Davao City High School exclusive for K-12 graduates;

– June 24, 2022 – Davao Central College, Toril – open for all applicants;

– July 15, 2022 – Mintal Gym for retrenched workers, and an open for all applicants for local and overseas jobs;

– July 15, 2022 –  NCCC Mall Buhangin sponsored by Councilor Marissa Abella; and,

– July 29, 2022 – Bunawan Gym – open for all.

Pantinople advised applicants to ready their resumé, school records, and certificates of employment if they have work experience. They should also come appropriately dressed for job interviews. CIO
