Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (formerly Public Safety and Security Command Center) head Angel Sumagaysay said that the observance of Undas 2022 in Davao City had no major incident affecting public security as of the morning of November 2, 2022.

“Generally peaceful and normal, very clear naman sa situation update, ang mga related incident with our local terrorist group, local communist group, maritime security kung naa bay incident no, so far wala’y natala na significant incident in relation to the commemoration of the Undas 2022 (It was generally peaceful and normal. It is very clear in our situation update that we have not recorded any significant incidents related to local terrorist groups, local communist groups, and maritime security in relation to the commemoration of Undas 2022),” Sumagaysay said.

He added that some of the items intercepted in the entry points of cemeteries were alcoholic drinks, and sharp objects – even with prior warning and based on the reminder that cleaning of the cemeteries should be done before the start of commemoration.

Sumagaysay said that some personnel also had to deal with those who did not follow traffic guidelines. To handle the situation, assigned team leaders were given the authority to make adjustments depending on the situation on the ground.

The PSSO chair lauded the performance of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office for their assistance despite the hot weather.

He added that the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils, the barangay health workers, and workers from the City Health Office extended their help, especially to those who needed medical attention while inside the cemeteries.

“Atoang i-recognize tong mga volunteers nga kusa gyud sila nga nipartisipar and nitabang sa atong security and safety cluster (We also recognize our volunteers who willingly participated and helped our security and safety cluster),” he said.

Oplan Undas 2022 will continue until November 3, 2022 and some of the ground commanders will be slowly pulled out from their assigned areas as of the afternoon of November 2, 2022, to coastal areas where people usually gather. CIO
