The Task Force Davao (TFD) on Tuesday held its 20th founding anniversary celebration at its headquarters at the Sta. Ana Wharf in Barangay Leon Garcia.

The TFD was established on April 16, 2003 after the terror attacks on the Sasa Airport and Sasa Wharf earlier that same year.

Tuesday’s celebration was attended by Vice Mayor J Melchor Quitain Jr, TFD Commmander Col Darren Comia, TFD Executive Officer LtC Jonathan Escopalao, Davao City Police Office Director PCol Alberto Lupaz, Public Safety and Security Office Head Angel Sumagaysay, city government department heads, and other stakeholders.

The event was aimed at recognizing and thanking all partner agencies and stakeholders who continue to support the TFD in its mission to secure and maintain order in Davao City.

During the celebration, the TFD awarded nine outstanding TFD personnel and showcased its biggest accomplishments in the past two decades. The TFD also launched its own hymn.

Comia, in his speech, said the TFD remains committed to its mandate of ensuring security and safety in the city. He said the TFD is determined to strengthen partnerships with both public and private sectors.

“We would like to renew our commitment to the security and safety of the city,” the TF Commander said.

Quitain, meanwhile, thanked the TFD for “20 years of excellent service,” adding that he is confident peace in Davao City will be sustained even as it continues to grow and develop.

Reading a message from city mayor Sebastian Duterte, Quitain said the City Government of Davao is grateful for how the TFD “has continued to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to duty in protecting the city from threats, criminality, and other forms of lawlessness” over the years. CIO
