To further secure Davao City’s peace and order situation this year, the Task Force Davao will be expanding its culture of security campaign with the help of the education sector, as well as strengthening the city’s border control by adding more detachments and checkpoints.
Task Force Davao Commander Col. Darren Comia, during the Madayaw Davao program aired over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, said the TF Davao’s success in maintaining the city’s peace, security and order last year will need further augmentation to be successfully replicated this year.
“For 2022, may mga nakalatag na man tayong plano (we already have plans in place); one of which is to institutionalize our culture of security,” Comia said.
The city’s culture of security for this year will be targeting grade school and high school students, inculcating in them the importance of an active citizenry in the maintenance of peace and order in the city.
The TF Davao has already made its information and education campaign materials targeting grade school pupils and high school students. Dissemination of such materials is now being scheduled by the Department of Education division superintendents in the city.
The TF Davao intends to reach all private and public elementary and high school students in the propagation of the city’s culture of security. Comia said teachers in both public and private academic institutions in the city will become the force’s partners in this endeavor, as well as the Parents-Teachers Associations.
“Ang gusto lang natin ay ipaintindi sa mga bata na dapat tumulong ang bawat isa, na ang security ay hindi lang concern ng security forces but the concern of all, (What we want is to make the children understand that everyone must help, that the city’s security is not just the concern of the security forces but the concern of all),” he added.
Meanwhile, in bracing for the many events slated this year, the TF Davao will be adding more manpower as it requested for an additional Specialized Cafgu Active Auxiliary (SCAA) company. This is to ensure adequate security coverage as borders open up to promote more economic activities in the tourism and recreation sector. One of these events is the holding of the Ironman 70.3 triathlon race in March.
“Napakalaking event nito na kailangan nating i-secure, of course, sa pakikipagtulungan ng lahat ng law enforcement units dito sa Davao City (This is a very big event that we need to secure, of course, with the cooperation of all law enforcement units here in Davao City),” the TF Commander said.
Comia added that an additional SCAA unit is needed in order to keep up with the many developments in the city, as it continues to grow both economically and population-wise. Additional border checkpoints are also being studied.
A TF riverine detachment was already installed this year in Ilang, Bunawan District to monitor the arrival of motorized water vessels from neighboring province. Another one in Mahayag, Cabantian is being studied to secure the Northern borders through the bypass road.
