The Task Force Davao placed its troops on red alert to prevent a possible spillover of violence following the twin bomb attacks in Jolo, Sulu on Monday.

TF Davao Commander Colonel Consolito Yecla said that the red alert status also meant strengthening security measures being implemented in the city to ensure it is safe from similar attacks.

Yecla said stricter checkpoint procedures are now being implemented in all the city’s entry and exit points and intelligence gathering had been heightened.

“We immediately called our intel personnel inside and outside the city and coordinated with other units to ensure that the city will be safe from any atrocities,” he said in an interview at the Madayaw Dabaw at Davao City Disaster Radio.

He said those wearing full-body covering are now being subjected to stringent inspection.

“The challenge right now is that everybody is wearing face masks that can possibly conceal the identity of the person, that is why we are very strict in checking every individual entering the city,” Yecla added.

Yecla also asked the cooperation of the public and submit themselves for inspection in each checkpoint. He also called on them to report any unusual individuals or incidents in their surroundings. CIO
