The Task Force Davao has rated the first community exercise not perfect but the Dabawenyos’ participation was commendable as it showed their willingness to adopt the Culture of Security.
Task Force Davao Commander Consolito Yecla said that although only 20 out of 25 persons acting as terrorists were neutralized, the majority of them were reported by ordinary Dabawenyos like janitors, clerks, and front desk personnel, showing there was community participation in the exercise.
“It may not be a perfect score but still very high considering the exercise conducted for the first time,” said Yecla on Thursday.
He also noted that the first-ever anti-terror community exercise on the Culture of Security was successfully conducted without panic and traffic congestion.
“At the individual level, Dabawenyos are really willing to support our community exercise,” he said.
Yecla said that the security readiness of Davao City will never be the same after the community exercise.
“We are on the right track on establishing a robust security system supported by the people since security has become a lifestyle of Dabawenyos,” he said.
The community exercise happened on Wednesday from 10 am to 3 pm with 25 actors disguised as terrorists were deployed to 25 malls, restaurants, hotels/inns, churches, and government establishments in the city. CIO
