The Task Force Davao (TFD), in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the City Information Office, on Wednesday launched its new Culture of Security infomercial at the Davao City National High School (DCNHS).
The infomercial is part of the TFDâs effort to shift the focus of its Culture of Security campaign towards grade school and high school students in order to heighten young peopleâs awareness of the security and safety situation in the city and encourage them to take a more empowered role in maintaining peace and order.
Wednesdayâs launch was attended by Mayor Sebastian Duterte, TFD Commander Col Darren Comia, Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Head Angel Sumagaysay, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Deputy City Director for Administration PLtCol Jed Clamor, Special Office for Children’s Concern (SOCC) Officer-in-Charge Consorcia Ronquillo, DepEd Schools Division Superintended Reynante Solitario, DCNHS educators, student representatives and their parents.
Comia said the informercial was created to instill a deep awareness of safety in the generations to come.
Duterte, in his speech, said embedding the culture of security among young people is crucial in producing a proactive citizenry in the future.
âDili lalim ang lugar kung asa situated ang Davao City–naa ta sa region, naa ta sa area dira sa atong nasud na there is imminent threat outside of our borders (It is not easy where Davao City is stuatedâwhere in a region, we are in an area here in our country where there is imminent threat outside our borders),â Duterte said.
Though Davao City has shown its resiliency time and time again, Duterte added, the challenge of maintaining the peace requires the participation of all facets of the community.
The presence of threats from outside the region, the mayor added, renders necessary this propagation of the campaign.
Solitario, expressing DepEd’s full support to the initiative, urged all grade schools and high schools to play the new four-minute informercial during school ceremonies, programs, sports events, and other activities. Teachers are also encouraged to show the infomercial to their students. CIO
