The City Government of Davao has once again urged Dabawenyos to cooperate with the police and the armed forces to prevent terrorist attacks in the city.
The call came following the two separate bombing incidents in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat on August 28 and September 2.
On Monday, during the opening of the National Crime Prevention Week, the Chief of Public Security and Safety Center Benito de Leon said it is important for Dabawenyos report incidents that they find suspicious — no matter how big or small it is.
“I echo the call of the City Mayor for the citizens to help the security forces so that this sort of tragic incident would not happen in our city.”
Mayor Inday Sara Duterte has earlier urged Dabawenyos to be always vigilant following the first Isulan blast that happened on August 28 or 5 days before the 2nd year commemoration of the blast that killed 15 people in Davao City on September 2.
De Leon also ensured Dabawenyos that the security in the city is on its all-time high, especially with the recent bombing incidents.
The Police Regional Office XI Director, Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales, also revealed that 175 additional police forces from the regional office were deployed to do patrol duties around Davao City to strengthen the security.
“We have added police forces to patrol all over the city on a daily basis. That would be 35 additional officers per day.”
Morales said at present, Davao City has no threats but the police remains vigilant and not discounting the possibility of attacks.
In celebration of the National Crime Prevention Week, the Davao City Police Office will conduct symposium, seminars, information drives in communities, schools and universities in order to generate support in crime prevention. CIO
