The City Government of Davao, through the City Information Office, warned the public anew against spreading unverified information about the presence of terrorists in the city.
âNagapahimangno ta kay padayon gihapong nagakalat ning chain messages nga nagahisgot nga naa’y terorista nakasulod or anything nga naga sow og fear and confusion ba (We are issuing this warning because there are still people sending chain messages about the supposed entry of terrorists here or anything that sows fear and confusion),â City Information Office Officer-In-Charge Harvey Lanticse said in an interview over Davao City Disaster Radio Wednesday.
He said that there is no truth to the circulating news about the entry of terrorists in the city and advised the public to listen only to official channels and from authorities – the police, military, or the local government.
âAng nagsulti ana wala gyud na siyaây basehan, dili gyud na siya verified so i-stop nato ang pag share ani nga mga information kay wala gyud naây maayo nga mabuhat mag sow lang na og fear and confusion, magpanic ang mga tao (Those who are claiming that do not have a basis, and this information is not verified, so we should stop sharing it because it does not do any good),â Lanticse said.
He said that they were able to monitor new unverified reports about the terrorist entry as of Wednesday.
On Monday, the city government belied the posts circulating on social media about the supposed sighting of the MSU-Marawi bombing suspect in Davao City.
Lanticse said that authorities are on top of the security situation in Davao City. There was also no
notice of any cancellation of any event for the Pasko Fiesta sa Davao 2023. CIO
