Public Safety and Security Command Center Head Angel Sumagaysay said that their office continues to assess the safety and security plans for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events (MICE) organizers who apply for a special mayor’s permit.
In an interview with the City Information Office (CIO) on Monday, Sumagaysay bared that for this week, which marks the start of the Kadayawan activities, 12 applicants have applied for special permits and they have assessed the security plans for them.
“At least every week, mga almost 10 or 10 plus nga security plan among gina-assess. For the month of August naa ta, karon nga week naa ta’y 12 nga na-assess nato last week (At least every week, we assess 10 or more than 10 security plans. We have MICE events this week, we have 12 assessed last week,” Sumagaysay said.
He added that the city’s security protocol already has a template so they can easily calibrate it to suit the organizers’ needs for security assistance.
Sumagaysay assured that the city has enough security personnel for the MICE events and also for the major attractions of the 37th Kadayawan sa Dabaw.
“We are grateful lang ta nga naa ta’y enough nga security diri sa Davao City kahit papaano ma complementahan nato og security ang atoang mga bisita kung diri mapahigayon ang ilahang events. (We are grateful that we have enough security in Davao City that enables us to complement the security of the visitors that will conduct their events here),” Sumagaysay said.
He added they have already beefed up the number of security forces for the Kadayawan sa Davao Festival with more or less 10,000 security personnel. They are also waiting for the final layout of the accredited side events so that they can prepare and deploy the appropriate number of personnel.
Sumagaysay, however, reminded organizers of the MICE to ensure proper implementation of the required minimum public health standards as the main shield from COVID-19.
“Kini no bisan nga approve na ang inyong events but then again gusto namo i-remind sa mga organizers ug sa atoang participants nga aduna pata’y gi-implement, nga nagpabilin ang minimum health protocols nato ang paghugas og kamot, ilabi na kaning wearing of face mask wala gyud na siya gitanggal. (Even though your events have already been approved, we would like to remind the organizers and our participants that we are still implementing the minimum public health protocols, especially the washing of hands with soap and water and the wearing of face masks),” he said.
