After the generally peaceful celebration of the Holy Week, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) now shifts its focus on the upcoming local and national elections with a ready security plan in place.

DCPO Spokesperson Police Major Teresita P. Gaspan, during the Madayaw Davao program of 87.5 FM Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Monday, August 18, 2022, said, “Ready na ang security plan. In fact, nakalatag na. Naa man gamay i-fine tune nalang gyud, ready na para sa election (The security plan is ready. It’s all set. It would just need fine-tuning, ready for the election).”

She said that the city is lucky that it has no area of concern or election hotspot.

Gaspan said DCPO personnel will be beefed up by trainees from the Regional Training Center 11 – Philippine Public Safety College.

“Naa ta’y na augment diri. Anytime pwede ra sila ma-pull out kung asa sila nga police precinct ibutang (We have augmentation. They can be pulled out anytime to whichever precinct they will be deployed),” she said.

The DCPO Women and Children Protection Desk chief also said that everyone in their personnel will be utilized for the elections.

She added, “Tanan ipang-pull out to serve during the local and national elections. During the election, full alert man atong status ana. Kahit naka- schooling, naka-leave, walang pwede na hindi maka-serve, only for emergency cases. Expected tanan mo duty, mag-serve during election (Everybody will be pulled out to serve during the local and national elections. During the election, we will be on full alert status. Even if others will be on schooling, or leave, no one is exempted from serving unless it’s for emergency cases. Everyone is expected to report for duty and serve during the election).”

Gaspan also assured that DCPO personnel will remain apolitical and will just enforce the law to keep an orderly and peaceful election.

She reminded Dabawenyos to continue adhering to the minimum public health standards, particularly the mandatory wearing of face masks, even if Davao City remains to be under alert level 1 status.

Meanwhile, she said the observance of the Holy Week in the city has been generally peaceful and successful with no untoward incident recorded by the police.

“So far, wala kita’y natala nga nakaapekto sa pagpahigayon sa tanang activities sa Holy Week bagkus naging successful kini. According to our security plan, hapsay ug malinawon tanang activities nga gipahigayon during the Holy Week (So far, we haven’t logged any incident that affected the Holy Week activities as it became successful. According to our security plan, all Holy Week activities were orderly and peaceful),” Gaspan added.

She attributed this to the efforts of the joint forces of DCPO, Task Force Davao, the City Government of Davao, and members of the Safety and Security Cluster. CIO
