The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has inaugurated its new main building located at Camp Captain Domingo E. Leonor on San Pedro Street with a blessing and turn-over ceremony Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
The event was attended by Acting Mayor Baste Duterte (who also lead the ribbon-cutting ceremony), DPWH-XI Regional Director Engr. Rey Peter B. Gille, former DCPO chief director Police Col. Kirby John Kraft, DCPO City Director Alberto Lupaz, City Engineer’s Office Head Atty. Joseph Dominic Felizarta.
The three-story building was approved and funded under the RA 10352 or the General Appropriations Act, through the Department of Public Works and Highways. The project had a budget appropriation of P163,800, 000 under the local infrastructure program for the calendar year 2021.
According to the DCPO, the construction of the building started on July 14, 2021 and was finished in 420 days.
DPWH XI regional director Engr. Gille said in his speech during the event that the DCPO main building project was completed 3 months earlier than the allotted deadline. He also boasted of the facility’s state-of-the-art amenities.
The new addition to the DCPO headquarters includes a mast tower, a center stage, a spacious multipurpose hall, a CCTV system, air conditioning and ventilating system, public announcement system, fire alarm and sprinkler system, and elevators.
In his speech, acting mayor Sebastian Duterte congratulated the DPWH and the DCPO for the building turnover. He also expressed hopes that the new building would motivate Davao City’s police force to stay true to their commitment to safeguarding the city and her people, saying, “May this new facility inspire you further to uphold your mandate.” He also assured the DCPO of unwavering support from the city government of Davao. “Do not fear to fulfill your duty, the local government of Davao City will always be behind you.” CIO
