The Philippine National Police (PNP) has given the City Government of Davao the Special Local Government Unit award during its 122nd Police Service Anniversary celebration in Camp Crame, Quezon City on August 8.

The award, conferred by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, recognized the local government of Davao as the most supportive LGU to the efforts and initiatives of the police force, beating all other LGUs in the country.

“So ang napili ng national headquarters ng PNP ay ang Davao as best LGU in terms of support sa iyang police, sa ang atong police diri which is the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) (So the PNP national headquarters chose Davao as the best LGU in terms of support to its police, our police forces here which is the DCPO),” said Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Head Angel Sumagaysay during the I-Speak media forum on Thursday.

Sumagaysay, who received the award on behalf of the local government, said the recognition was duly awarded because of the local government’s continued support to the security cluster, in terms of both funding and policy-making, that has effectively maintained peace and order in Davao.

Though there are no more internal threats of insurgency and terrorism in the city, the PSSO Chief asked the public to continue supporting the security cluster and maintain the adoption of the culture of security campaign

“Please support your security cluster and let’s continue to adopt the culture of security. Tanan kita involved. Naa’y participation ta in sustaining the peace and order na gina-enjoy nato karon sa Davao City (We are all involved. We are all participating in sustaining the peace and order that we are enjoying here in Davao City),” he said. CIO
