The Task Force Davao is leveling up in terms of security inspection after it has installed a baggage scanner at the Sirawan checkpoint last week.

This will also speed up inspection and lessen waiting time of the passengers.

Lt. Col. Consolito Yecla, the commander of Task Force Davao, said that from the usual seven minutes the inspection is reduced to four minutes with the use of the baggage scanner.

“This will make the inspection more accessible and easier since we now have this scanner that will thoroughly inspect the baggage of the public,” Yecla said.

Yecla said the scanner is an added security for Dabawenyos and ensures that people entering the city do not carry with them firearms, bladed weapons, explosive devices, and other contraband.

Since using the scanner, TF Davao already confiscated several bladed weapons.

“Based on our intel assessment, the threat comes from the south, which is why we placed the scanner at the Sirawan checkpoint,” he said.

Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) Chief Benito de Leon said the scanner will enhance the security measures in the city.

“I ask the people to extend their patience in entering the city because this is for their security and with this, we can assure the public that Davao City will remain peaceful,” he said. CIO
