The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) on Thursday shared the traffic plan it will be enforcing in nine major cemeteries in the city on November 1.

CTTMO Chief Dionisio Abude, during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday, said inner streets surrounding the biggest cemeteries will be turned to one-way roads to regulate traffic flow and to follow the “one entrance, one exit” policy implemented by the Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO).

“Ang atong opisina nag-prepare og traffic plan sa siyam ka mga dagko na sementeryo dinhi sa atong siyudad (Our office prepared a traffic plan for the nine biggest cemeteries here in the city),” Abude said.

The traffic plan specifies which roads are bound for entry or exit from Davao Memorial Park, Wireless Public Cemetery and its five neighboring private cemeteries, Chinese Cemetery, and Buhangin Memorial Park.

Vendors surrounding the cemeteries will be asked to move to designated temporary sites on the 29th.

Tricycles are not allowed entry to these cemeteries. However, Abude said exceptions will be made for tricycles carrying persons with disability (PWD) or the elderly.

“Ang tricycles dili gyud nato pasudlon unless kadtong naa’y PWD or kadtong edaran na pwede nato pasuldon if dili pa congested ang area (We will not allow tricycles to enter but those carrying PWDs and elderly passengers will be allowed in if the area is not congested),” he said.

A total of 570 CTTMO personnel will be deployed a week leading to and during All Saint’s Day (November 1). Abude added if traffic situation demands, the traffic plan for November 1 may be extended to All Soul’s Day on November 2.

The CTTMO chief urged all motorists to abide by the traffic plan to ensure a safe and orderly observation of the Undas season.
