About five vendors were warned by Ancillary Services Unit (ASU) after they were found selling food at the park located at Coastal Road.
“Gahapon naa mi sa coastal road.. kay naa’y nag report nga naa’y vendor didto nakabike lang ginabutang lang nila sa ilahang bike, gi-warningan man to gahapon nga tanggalon ang ilang baligya o kargahon namo ang ilang bike (Yesterday at the coastal road.. we received a report that there was a vendor there selling goods on a bike. He was warned that we will remove his goods and we will confiscate his bike),” Bermejo said.
He added that the selling of goods remained prohibited inside the park and it also does not provide “a good view”, especially so that these vendors are not regulated.
Bermejo suggested to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) to discuss the matter with the Parks Board.
He added that the vendors also located at the entrance or exits of the coastal road are also not allowed and he has already instructed personnel from his office to focus on it.
Bermejo said that some of the 200 personnel of his office continue to monitor or stay on sidewalks and pedestrian overpasses to ensure that there are no ambulant vendors there.
Another recent activity of ASU personnel is “rodding” of the canals, a measure to desilt canals, to avoid huge flooding incidents, especially in the Matina Crossing area. CIO
