Ten entries made it to the Davao Pasko Jam 2022 Songwriting Competition grand finals, which will be held at the Bantawan Amphitheater of Magsaysay Park from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, December 16.
“Congratulations to the finalists who will be joining the Pasko Jam Songwriting Competition Grand Finals,” the Davao City Tourism Operations Office wrote on its official Facebook page Monday, December 12.
The grand finalists are Jovit Leonerio who penned `Pasko sa Dakbayan,’ Chrishope Band (Pasko sa Pinas), D’Hombres (Pasko Fiesta), Maan Chua (Paglaum sa Kapaskuhan), Arvy Grace Into (Dito sa Pasko Jam), Durian Capital PH (Manaygun Ta), Tuneheads Band (Celebrating Christmas all over the world), Jhana Marie Aranda (Uli sa Karong Pasko), Apolinario Mabini Elementary School (Diwa ng Pasko), and LJ Manzano (Pasko Nato).
All submitted entries, from different music genres, were evaluated by a screening committee and the top 10 were chosen based on their musicality (40 percent), creativity (30 percent), and relevance (30 percent).
The grand finalists now have the chance to win the top cash prize of P150,000 and a trophy if they emerge as champion.
The second and third placers will pocket P100,000 and P75,000, respectively. They will also receive trophies.
Meanwhile, the rest of the finalists will not go home empty-handed as each will claim a consolation prize of P25,000 apiece.
The top three winners shall perform in Pasko Fiesta events as requested by the City Government of Davao.
The Pasko Jam, which is open to all Davao region music artists and songwriters of all genres, aims to promote the musical talents of Dabawenyos, especially in the field of song compositions.
It also provides an opportunity to showcase the expressions of a happy life, human interconnectedness, and unity through music reflective of the Christmas season. CIO
