Dance groups wanting to compete in the Sayaw Pasko 2022 will only be able to sign up until December 15, the organizer said.

So far, at least 10 dance groups have already signed up for the event, according to PrevEnt Productions and Event Management chief executive officer (CEO) Wadab Babao.

Babao said during the Madayaw Davao program aired Tuesday, December 6, via the Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) program, that “Ang Sayaw Pasko is one the highlight activities sa atong Pasko Fiesta sa Davao hatod sa atoa sa local government unit. Open ni sya sa tanang Dabawenyo, whether school-based or community-based. Basta lang i-follow lang ang guidelines and mechanics (The Sayaw Pasko is one of the highlight activities of our Christmas Fiesta in Davao, brought to us by our local government unit. It is open to all Dabawenyos, whether school-based or community-based. Just follow the guidelines and mechanics).”

The qualifying round is set for 5 p.m. on December 17 at the Agila stage of Rizal Park.

Participating dance groups can edit and mix several songs or music, but these must not contain inappropriate, lewd, or offensive language. Event organizers will declare the music material a day before the qualifying round.

Each group, with a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 16 participants, will have between two to five minutes to perform their routine.

From the qualifying round, 15 grand finalists will advance to the December 23 dance showdown.

The top 15 are assured of cash prizes. The grand winner will receive P100,000 while the next four placers will take home P75,000, P50,000, P30,000, and P20,000.

Non-winning groups will each settle for the P10,000 consolation prize.

Babao said, “Imagine wala ni sya’y registration fee, libre. Tanang dance groups sa dakbayan sa Davao, akoa tamong gina-awhag nga muapil sa Sayaw Pasko dance competition (Imagine there is no registration fee, it’s free. To all dance groups in the city of Davao, I am encouraging you to participate in the Sayaw Pasko dance competition).”

Only residents of Davao City, however, can join the competition.

Babao said interested groups may be all-female, all-male, or a mix of both genders. Each group member should be at least seven years old and above.
