Former city councilor April Marie Dayap is now the chief of the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC), replacing Lemuel Ortonio who was appointed the head of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO).

Dayap, who officially took over the office on Monday, July 1, plans to come up with a strategic plan aimed at bringing more investors to the city.

She also vowed to develop a more aggressive investment promotion program for the city to become a foreign and local investment destination.

“These are all new to me. I would like to solicit ideas from Mayor Sara (Duterte) on what her mandate is so that I can align our strategies to her programs as well,” she said.

Dayap was overwhelmed when the position was offered to her as she previously thought of going back to the private sector after her term.

“Although the function of the legislative department is far from that of the executive, I will strive hard to do my job as the new DCIPC head,” she said.

Dayap, 34, served the City Council for 14 years. Of the 14 years in public service, she was an ex-officio member being the president of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation for 5 years and as second district councilor for 9 years.

She has a degree in Economics from the Holy Cross of Davao College. CIO
