The Davao City government is setting up three more coronavirus isolation facilities with 211 total beds and more than 30 doctors, nurses, and health support workers to serve the patients.
These facilities called the âWe Heal As One Centersâ are located in the sites offered by the private and government partners at the RMC Petro Gazz Arena, UP Faculty and Staff Housing, and the Davao City UP Mindanao Sports Complex Training Gym.
âWe Heal As One Centersâ are temporary health facilities or emergency patient care centers in line with the Philippine governmentâs response to the coronavirus pandemic. These are either preexisting structures or makeshift tents refurbished as a health facility.
This week, the city government is starting to move in supplies to the RMC Petro Gazz Arena which has a 48-bed facility. Davao City also utilized some classrooms of the Rizal Memorial Colleges (RMC) for up to 30 healthcare workers to be assigned at the facility.
On the other hand, the UP Faculty and Staff Housing can cater to 35 patients while the Davao City UP Mindanao Sports Complex Training Gym will have 128 beds. Preparation works are still ongoing at the DC-UP Min Sports Complex Training Gym but it will be ready anytime soon.
Added to the new isolation facilities, Davao City now has a total of 607 beds and 13 COVID-19 isolation facilities that can cater once the city experiences a surge of the coronavirus infection cases.
This was a commitment made by Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte that her Davao City is targetting up to 1,000 beds to prepare for a possible influx of COVID-19 cases. CIO
