Bivalent vaccination will open at People’s Park on Saturday, August 26, 2023, for senior citizens, healthcare workers, and those with comorbidities, including persons who are living with them.
The administration of the third booster dose using Prizer’s Bivalent vaccine is part of the City Health Office’s bid to expand its coverage of people for protection against the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The vaccination is in partnership with the Department of Health.
CHO Technical Division chief Dr. Julinda Acosta, during the I-Speak Media forum, said that the one-time weekend vaccination event is open to more individuals.
“This time, we expanded the coverage ng ating Pfizer pwede na nato siya i-rollout ngadto sa kaubanan nila sa panimalay sa mga A1, A2 senior citizens ug kadtong with comorbidities. We also extend this to the allied medical students like nursing students nga naa sila’y exposure sa ospital, pwede nato sila matagaan kadtong, mga MedTech students nga naa po’y exposure.. pwede nato sila i-accommodate this coming Saturday (This time we expanded the coverage of the Pfizer Bivalent vaccine, which we can already rollout to persons living in the same households with senior citizens, A1, A2 and those with comorbidities. We also extend this to allied medical students like nursing students who have exposure in hospitals, we can give them these vaccines, as well as MedTech students who have exposure. We can accommodate them this coming Saturday),” Acosta said.
She said that out of the more than 3,000 doses given to the city starting June 30, 2023, more than 300 doses remain and this will be used in Saturday’s vaccination rollout. She also said that DOH guaranteed to provide 200 additional doses.
Acosta said that those who cannot go to the Saturday rollout will still be catered to, from Monday to Friday, at People’s Park from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is for the first, second, and third booster doses for eligible individuals.
The 18 CHO health districts also continue administering vaccines in their areas of jurisdiction every Friday, coinciding with diabetes and Heart Day.
District health care workers address the slow uptake of COVID-19 vaccination rollout in districts by conducting house-to-house visitations by purok and by catering to requests of companies for vaccination of their workers.
She said those who refused to be vaccinated for the third booster dose, believing that the first and second booster doses were enough, should correct such misinformation as booster doses are still needed to increase body immunity and become resistant to disease. CIO
